Fire & Smoke Restoration Process
If you experience
fire and smoke damage, you can expect the following steps to be taken to restore your property:
- 1st Action
Services assesses the damage to determine the extent and severity of the smoke which has
affected the structure.
- Odor removal
equipment is set up, if necessary.
- Clothing that
needs to be cleaned and deodorized is identified and expedited.
- Duct cleaning service is scheduled (if needed).
- Smoke soot
is removed from structure by chem sponging ceilings, walls, baseboards, trim, etc.
- A technician
is brought in to clean all personal contents in the rooms affected by smoke and soot.
- Upholstered items, such as carpets
and drapes, are dry or steam cleaned based upon the manufacturers' recommended cleaning
process.

Water Restoration Process
If you experience water damage, you can
expect the following steps to be taken to restore your property:
- 1st Action Services assesses from where the water damage originated.
- Extent of damage to the property is determined.
- The condition of the flooring, including hardwoods, carpet, tiling, padding,
etc., are checked.
- Moisture levels are checked with a hydrometer and recorded by our technician.
- Water extraction is performed, if necessary.
- All contents in the affected areas are removed to pull carpet and padding,
if applicable.
- Mildecide is sprayed.
- Drying equipment is set up, using fans and dehumidifiers.
- Flooring is replaced by a general contractor.
- Contents are moved back in.

Preparation for Move-Out
In order to
complete major restoration projects, it is likely it will be necessary to remove your belongings
from the premises. You will be asked to select items which you will require for First Delivery.
(See First Delivery below.) You can expect 1st Action Services to do the following:
- Inventory and labeling of the major items throughout the structure, e.g.,
hardwood furniture, electronics, computers, antiques, artwork, etc.
- Pack up your belongings using specialty furniture pads, tissue paper, bubble
wrap, boxes, etc.
- Move your contents into our 24 ft. moving truck which is equiped with a
liftgate to protect the contents.
- Store your personal property in our state-of-the-art 26,000 s.f. storage
facility. (Our facility is equiped with 24 hour surveillance, sprinkler system, and state-of-the-art
security system.)
- Evaluate if hardwood furniture needs refinishing, diagnose electronics
and computer equipment, determine if any artwork will need to be restored, etc.
- Schedule a date for first delivery,
and move back of prioritized items.

During Construction
Below is an explanation of what will happen
to your contents while your structure is being reconstructed:
- All packing, moving, and cleaning will be carefully handled by 1st Action
Services employees. And, your contents will be restored in a timely manner, based upon
our work schedule.
- Your miscellaneous boxed contents will be cleaned, deodorized, reboxed
in clean boxes, placed on pallets, shrink wrapped, and stored in our 26,000 sq.ft. state-of-the-art
storage facility.
- Furniture and other large or valuable items will be inventoried, cleaned,
refurbished/restored, and stored in the same facility as your boxed items.
- If emergency items are needed from storage, we will assist you in locating
those belongings for up to two hours at no charge. After that time, $20 per hour will
be added to your billing statement.
- Once your contents are restored, you will need to make an appointment to
view and discard items as you deem necessary. (Discard items are those that cannot be
restored to their pre-loss condition.) Please be assured that none of your belongings
will be thrown away by 1st Action employees.
- You will be required to inventory all items that you designate as
discard items for your insurance companys review. Discard items include the following:
- Health and beauty items, such as lotions, toothbrushes, soaps and tissues
- All medications
- Food items open boxes
- Paper products
- Any and all items that cannot be restored to pre-loss condition (some
items cannot be cleaned or deodorized, such as dried flowers, straw, and plastic.)
- Damaged items such as computers, electronics, clothing, artwork, and furniture
will be inspected by an appropriate expert. A written estimate of repair will be provided
to you and your insurance company for review. Repairs will only be made upon your authorization.
- After the construction of your property's structure is completed, 1st Action
Services will move your contents back and place them in their original location, or in
any location you specify.
- Be aware
you will need to keep the following items in your possession:
- Banking Records
- Tax Records
- Vital Documents
- Current Bills
- Eye Glasses
- Cable Boxes & Remotes
- Keys
- 1st Action Services is not allowed to remove the following items
from your premises:
- Firearms
- Fine Jewelry
- Flammable or Hazardous Materials
- We require a one- to two-week notice
when scheduling your contents move-back date.

About Your First Delivery
First Delivery
Items are those that you will need in your possession immediately. Examples of first delivery
include clothing, electronics, computer, documents, etc.
YOU decide what items
you consider First Delivery Items during the initial packout. Then, we focus on restoring
those items and returning them to you as soon as possible.
